Our Programs

Hyde Park Montessori is proud to offer two high-quality early education programs: the Schoolhouse (3 to 6 years old) and the Cottage (18 months to 3 years old). Teachers and staff work together to build a harmonious environment where students are free to discover their passions, develop friendships, and build a strong foundation for education.

The Schoolhouse

3 to 6 Years Old

“The child has a mind able to absorb knowledge. He has the power to teach himself.” - Maria Montessori

The Schoolhouse program is designed to stimulate and enrich the absorbent minds of children ages 3 to 6. Two mixed-age group classrooms make up the Schoolhouse, each equipped with a cozy library, practical life kitchen area, bathroom, and multiple common areas.

Both classrooms have a lead and assistant teacher that guide the classroom through daily Montessori work periods. During these periods, the teacher engages each child with works they might be interested in and gives them a lesson on how to use it. Once students are comfortable with Montessori materials they work independently to build foundations in reading, writing, math, and problem-solving. By the time students are ready for elementary school, they have grown in coordination, concentration, and independence, among others.

The capacity for each classroom is 24 students.

The Cottage

18 Months to 3 Years Old

“All that we ourselves are has been made by the child, by the child we were in the first two years of our lives.”

- Maria Montessori

The Cottage program is designed to guide toddlers through the exploration years of their lives. This small group classroom is equipped with a garden and large playground, a kitchen area, restroom, and a convertible Montessori work and nap space.

Within the warm and nurturing environment of the Cottage, students are supported through their transition from home to school. Here, students are encouraged to develop their sense of wonder and independence while growing in their problem solving, communication, and learning skills.

The capacity for the Cottage is 11 students.

Summer Camp

18 Months to 7 Years Old

Summers at Hyde Park Montessori are great fun! Each week is themed with games, crafts, and activities incorporated into informal Montessori work periods. Puppet shows, improv teachers, and even kangaroos come to visit as our exciting summer extracurriculars!

The summer is a great time to transition children who haven’t been in a Montessori program yet. We also welcome back alumni students for that first summer post Kindergarten.

If you would like more information on what the transitional summer camp process looks like for new families, please contact us.
